Why straighten teeth at all
Appearance is the reason most people ask, and it’s a perfectly good one. But crowded and overlapping teeth are also harder to clean, and the spots a brush can’t reach are where decay and gum disease start. Teeth that meet unevenly wear each other down and can contribute to jaw pain.
Straightening is one of the few cosmetic treatments that also makes the teeth easier to keep.
What clear aligners can correct
Crowding
Teeth overlapping because there isn’t room for them along the arch.
Gaps
Spacing between teeth, whether from a narrow arch or a missing tooth.
Rotated or tipped teeth
Individual teeth turned out of line with their neighbors.
Mild to moderate bite problems
Overbite, underbite, crossbite, and open bite, within limits. Severe skeletal bite problems need an orthodontist, and sometimes traditional braces — we’ll tell you honestly if that’s your case.
How treatment works
Most cases run somewhere between six and eighteen months, depending on how far the teeth have to travel.

A free consultation
We look at your teeth and your bite and tell you whether aligners can achieve what you want — and whether the treatment is best done here or with an orthodontist. If aligners can’t do it, you’ll hear that here rather than halfway through. No charge, and no pressure either way.

Scan and plan
Digital impressions are used to map the movement tooth by tooth. You’ll see a projection of the finished result before you commit.

Wear the trays
Each set is worn about 20 to 22 hours a day and swapped roughly every one to two weeks. They come out to eat and to brush.

Retain
Teeth drift back if nothing holds them. A retainer after treatment isn’t optional — it’s what makes the result last.
Aligners or braces?
Aligners are removable, nearly invisible, and there’s nothing you have to stop eating. They also demand discipline: they only work while they’re in your mouth, and the most common reason a case runs long is trays sitting in a pocket.
Fixed braces are still the better tool for complex movements and for patients who won’t reliably wear a removable appliance — teenagers, often. We’d rather refer you for the right treatment than sell you the convenient one.
Common questions
Does Invisalign hurt?
There's pressure and tenderness for a day or two with each new tray. That feeling is the tooth moving, and it fades quickly.
Will people notice I'm wearing them?
Rarely in normal conversation. They're clear and thin, though close up someone may catch the edge along the gumline.
Can I eat with them in?
No — take them out to eat and to drink anything but water, then brush before putting them back. Sugary drinks trapped under a tray are a fast route to cavities.
Am I too old for aligners?
No. Teeth move at any age. A good share of aligner patients are adults who never had orthodontics as a teenager.
